Boulder's housing prices are much higher on average (189 housing index) due to the city's restrictive growth and the town being land locked by open space and mountains.

Homes in Boulder CO can range from the typical bungalow built in around the 1890's to today where several homes are being scrapped to the ground and newer larger homes are put up in there place near the Pearl Street Mall area. South of downtown you will find other types of homes such as the ranch style homes in the large subdivision Martin Acres.
As for the past few years much of the growth has occurred at the north edge of Boulder where Broadway meets 36. Many of these houses are planned to be affordable. Real estate in Boulder will remain strong because the town has done an excellent job at not letting urban sprawl occur as it has in neighboring towns such as Superior Colorado.
Boulder has two large events each year - Bolder Boulder and Kinetics along with other events like the CU football games.
