Superior Colorado:

Superior only had 250 residents back in the mid-80's and now has over 9,000. The town's growth has slowed in the past few years and is almost tapped out for new residential growth. Just one subdivision called Rock Creek created almost all the growth. The construction on Rock Creek began in the beginning of 1987. A second smaller subdivision called Sagamore is located behind Target.

Superior has two town pools, tennis courts, two large parks (Purple Park and Community Park) and an elementary and K8 school. Superior CO house for rent
With Superior's quick proximity to the Boulder-Denver Turnpike (36) it makes it a natural for commuters since Superior does not have much of an employer base. Even though the Interlocken business park is not in Superior it feels like it because it is on the same side of the Boulder-Turnpike. Interlocken has many high tech business such as Level3, SunMicrosystems and more.

Even though Flat Irons Mall is not located in Superior it feels like it does because it is on the same side of 36. The Flat Iron Mall district provides quick access to world class shopping to those who live in Superior Colorado. The Flat Irons Mall also has some great restaurants even though the majority of them are national chains like Canyon Cafe and Village Tavern.
Many of the homes in Old Town Superior were built around 1940's, while the newer Rock Creek homes were built in the mid 90's.
Single family homes in the past 1.5 years have sold anywhere from $195,000 to $805,000. Real estate in Superior is higher than average due to easy commuting distance to Boulder.

While there is not many trees in Superior (except the parks), the town does appear much like urban sprawl as viewed from 36. PBS some years ago did a special on urban sprawl called Subdivide and Conquer: A Modern Western and Superior Colorado was highlighted in the show. However trees are growing and residents are just starting to paint their houses from the stock bland Richmond American Homes colors to more creative colors.
While Rocky Flats nuclear weapons plant is only just a few miles south of Superior, a National Geographic article sites that the clean up is one of the best in the country for nuclear plants. After the clean up is completed there is talk of turning the site into at federal wildlife refuge.
The Flat Irons are not quite visible to most residents, but many do have a pretty good look at the foothills which is just 6 miles away. Some do not get a mountain view at all because Superior is somewhat shaped like a bowl. Click here to see the elevations of Superior houses.
Most real estate agents when discussing Rock Creek usually divide the town in two parts: north of Coalton Road and south of Coalton Road. The north side is older and has more cul-de-sacs and these homes have a tendency to sell faster than the houses on the south side.
One of the towns largest events each year is the Old West Chili Fest held at
Community Park with live music, beer and games for the kids. This
is a free event.
