Bolder Boulder:
10K running road race above 5300 feet - Bolder Boulder
Each year on Memorial day the largest running race in Colorado takes place in Boulder. It actually has two separate race courses - one for the "citizens" and one for the pros. The citizens race zig zags through mostly residential areas of Boulder finishing up at Folsom Field where the University of Colorado football team plays. The pros race in more of a shorter circle up and down Folsom Street and then finish also at Folsom Field.
Along the route for the citizen's race are live bands, belly dancers and home-owners spraying the runners down with their garden hoses.
After the Bolder Boulder race you receive a bunch of swag (free stuff) including beer or other refreshments. After you get a bag full of swag you can then have a seat in the stadium, meet up with your friends and watch the start of the pros race. Before the start of the pros race there is a jet flyover and many other fun events.
Parking for the race can be a bit of a pain since it ends at a different location than where it starts, however the race does offer bus service to get you around in Boulder.
